LOB Bulletin 47 19th May 2024

The Summer term is a great term for getting out and about with your young people.  I know many of you are taking your units on an Animal Adventure by visiting a zoo, wildlife park or aquarium as part of the Regions initiative.  Do not forget to order your badges.  The County is running an event for Rainbows this year at Chigwell Row, and we currently have over 100 girls with their leader booked in to take part in Rainbows in Wonderland (Sunday 9th June 2024).  The event would welcome some extra support please email annettemonk.lob@gmail.com if you can offer your time.

I have currently taken on the role of Young Leader co-ordinator for the county.  Unfortunately, several Young Leaders do not have their email address on Go.  This means that they will not be receiving information directly about the new training program coming in June or any opportunities open to them.   Please can unit leaders assist them with this and logging onto Go.  Completion of their safe space training also needs some support.

I hope to see many of you over the summer and hope those taking part in taking their girls away have a wonderful time and that the weather is kind to you.

As a Peer Educator is a county level role, some counties offer financial support to cover the booking costs and/or travel expenses so it’s worth enquiring about this if you have any interested Rangers.

Please do pass this information down to your Rangers/Young Leaders and encourage them to consider if this is their next step in Guiding. it is also something that they can do as one of the final challenges of the Ranger Gold award.

If they are unable to make the above event but are still keen to train as a Peer Educator, do ask them to sign up to our register of interest and they’ll hear about training opportunities directly as they are announced.

Yours in Guiding

Annette

Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up. Everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be. ’
