LOB Bulletin 49 8th September 2024
Well, a new term is about to start and the girls returning will have lots to tell us about their time away from Guiding. I have heard from one young person who attended an international event arranged by region. She travelled to Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Verona, Kanderstag, Basel, Cologne and Brussels. From her account of the trip, it seems her feet did not stay still for very long.
This time of year, is the re-start of regular unit meetings, often with new members joining. It is a really good time to do or review your annual unit risk assessment. Do you have new members (girl or adult) with particular needs to consider? Has there been any changes for the unit leadership team that might impact their availability for unit meetings, if so, how will this be managed? How do you keep members safe whilst in the unit meeting place e.g. Do you lock the door? if so, are there clear fire exits and how do late comers enter? These are just some of the things to consider as a unit leadership team and you can use the pre-filled risk assessment templates to support you with this. If you completed the pre-filled risk assessment last year, then you can just amend where you need to in the boxes at the end and ensure your leadership team acknowledge the amendments.
I really hope you have thought about Chigwell make a difference month in October. It might be that you will be discussing this with your girls on your first week back. I would love to hear what ideas they have come up with.
Congratulations

Rainbow and Brownie Day will soon be upon us. We have 850 girls booked to attend. To ensure that there are a range of activities for them to take part in I am sending out a plea for a few more volunteers to support the event on the day. If you are not bringing your girls to the event and are free on Saturday 21st September please email
